The last time I went to the Nationals was way back in 2018. And boy, was that ever a different time! Not only was the world somewhat normal (subjective… I know…) but I had a completely different hobby focus back then. Fast forward eight years and I have met all sorts of great modelers far and wide. Going to the show was as much about the models as it was the people and the experience.
For those who don’t know, IPMS nationals is an annual 4 day scale model show featuring vendors, exhibitors, a model contest and three days of hobby related seminars and hands on demonstrations. It is held in different cities and this year it was held in Fort Wayne Indiana. Which was driving distance.

Bottom line – if you ever have the chance to go to the IPMS Nationals or any other multi-day scale model convention, do it! No matter what, you are going to see some excellent and unique models. More importantly, you will also be in a convention hall full of people who share your passion.
All in all, my 2026 IPMS Nationals journey was a great success. I got to hang out with my old modeling buddies and I got to meet a few new modeling buddies. I also did really well in the vendor room. Most importantly, I went to get some inspiration for some upcoming builds, and I definitely got inspiration.
Now I just have to figure out what to build next!
I am looking for an original decal sheet “01E05 sheet 3/3” from HK 1/32 B-17 E/F. I am building the model as the Memphis Belle appears at the Air Force museum. My decals were damaged in a weather event.
Can you assist me in locating one?
