I have been asking for a new Corsair for some time now….I’ve been asking for a while…. over and over. I was always ignored. I threw another Hail Mary earlier this year, I figured why not. You don’t get what you don’t ask for, right?
Well, guess what? Someone made me a brand new Corsair in 48th scale in 2023. And wouldn’t you know? I got my hands on one this week:

To be honest, I have no experience with Magic Factory nor do I know whether their kits go together smoothly or if they have to be coaxed to completion.
I have been building the Tamiya Corsair regularly since I got back into the hobby in 2007. I’ve built seven of them and have a stack left in the stash. Until this week, there was no question about who makes the best early variant Corsair in my scale: Despite a few build issues, it’s hands down the Tamiya kit.
So, I thought I would do a little compare and contrast with the new Magic Factory kit and see, if there are some improvements or if Tamiya can sleep well, knowing they are still top dog when it comes to 48th scale Corsairs. Check it out here:
Keep in mind, this is only a part by part comparison. I’ll soon be building this kit to see if it goes together as nicely or better than Tamiya’s two-sprue wonder.

Based on what I’ve read so far and talking to the builder of one , you should have no problem with assembly Chris.
