Custom Sharkmouth Masks

There’s probably some psychological explanation behind it. But put a shark mouth on something, and I’m gonna like it.  I have built a number of models featuring shark mouths and I have snapped more than a few of them at museums and the like.

So, when my buddy Bruce asked if I would be interested in going halfsies on the Eduard Pacific Star P-40E Warhawk Dual Combo, all I said was:

“Yup, so long as I get the one with the sharkmouth!”

Of course, as with many scale model kit purchases, it got looked at and placed on a shelf. That is until this past winter when my buddy Zack Pease of Man Cave Models asked if I would go in on an Eduard P-40 buddy build. Now, I am usually one for never finishing any form of group build on time. And I was prepared for that eventuality with this build too.

But then I started snipping and assembling these Eduard P-40 parts. The cockpit was an absolute treat and detail wise, it is right up there with Tamiya 1/32 props in terms of detail and engineering. All I added was a 3D printed seat because I wanted to take my Creality Halot X1 printer for a test drive. I found a seat file for the Warhawk and the printer did the rest.

And before I knew it, I was assembling a finished cockpit into a fuselage and then bonding the wings on it. This was such an enjoyable build from start to finish. Eduard really designed a great kit. This is one of the most enjoyable builds I have ever had. Of course, I was not going to use the decal option for the sharkmouth or the markings. Nope, these were going to be custom masks by me for me and well, they worked perfectly.
