Model Studio 2.0

Those who have been checking in with me over the past year have known about my need for a better place to build. I’ll be the first to admit – I tend to drone on about a problem long before I fix it.

But I will eventually fix it.

Model Studio 2.0 was the classic case of post-move “priorities” (and there were many of them to check off before starting this project). But this did allow me to stew on exactly what I wanted to build for myself. The first dedicated build room I built was just that – a nice comfortable room where I did my model making. But I never thought of things like storage for the 10000 supplies I’d eventually acquire or the light I would need to actually see what I was doing. So, for the past year I researched built-in work desks, adequate studio lighting, work and camera-friendly layouts, and ventilation requirements.

And I think I pretty much checked off all of those needs. If you want to see a short video on the process, please look no further:

Last Thing

As you will see in the video, the work surface is a repurposed desk and not a built-in. I still intend on doing the built-in but I need to do a wee bit more design work on properly integrating the drawer units I bought while not blocking out any of the ventilation I put in. So, stay tuned!
